If you are sponsoring your wife from within Canada, Do you still need to obtain a police certificate from back home?

How can you get a Police Certificate from home country if you are staying in Canada?

I know that for a visitor visa, they don't require a police certificate but for a PR application (sponsored), police certificate is a requirement...

Thanks.

There are 2 ways that I know of that you can get police certificate. 1. Go to your home country and apply there (I'm sure you don't want to do that). 2. Contact the consulate of your home country and see if they can provide them as part of their service. Most countries consulates will do that for you, however, it does depend on the country. Also make sure to check if there are special instructions for your home country by arousing through the link posted above. Hope that helps.

i know how we can obtain a police certificate while we are THERE but when we are in Canada, how do we obtain the certificate?

I assume we'll just get it done before entering Canada...but the police certificate will most likely expire before we apply for spousal sponsorship...
unless obviously we enter canada, get married and apply, all within 3 months

We got ours from FBI being in Canada, also got from LT calling the LT embassy in Ottawa. There are forms to fill in on the government websites.
You don't tell the countries you need PC from - then Google it.

Depends on the country. I got my prints done here. The consulate for my country had to seal/sign the photos. I sent the info back home and my brother took the application in for me. He picked it up from the authorities and brought it here for me on his vacation. You should be able to find more info about your country of nationality on the CIC website or even your country's website. I got more details from my country's website though.
