Hi everyone, I have been getting the greatest help in this forum for various topics that I was lost about, and I am hoping you can help me again.

My spouse and I will apply for Inland Spouse Sponsorship and we're going to use the Online Portal.

So far the documentation and instructions have been quite clear, except for one that appears to be absent; who should create the account for this process?

Should it be the sponsor (me) or the sponsored (my spouse)?

I already have an online portal account due to my PR application in the past, but I cannot find whether or not we can use my account for this application or if my spouse has to create an account and apply via that account.

Does anyone know, or has anyone already done this before and could shine a light here? Or if this information is already available somewhere I would really appreciate if anyone could share where it is.

if it is without representative, it is better to create online portal for PA (not sponsor's account) and submit file.

I will be representing my spouse in the application, so we will be using the use of a representative form. In this case then we can use my account for that purpose?

Also do you happen to know where that information you're basing on might be available, or is it personal experience?

its mentioned on document checklist under use of rep point that if sponsor will receive any correspondence on behalf of PA then must submit use of rep form. Otherwise app will be considered incomplete and returned without processing. But if it is with rep then yes should be good.
My personal experience I submitted app online without rep but online portal created on my email so later I realized that I should have submit use of Rep. I was so scared because of this till the time I received my AOR (got yesterday) so if with rep then okay. If without rep to be on safe side submit with PA's account.

Congrats! You are one step closer with the AOR then, hope you get your application completed quickly.

Ok so the gist of it is:

  • If we use the "Use of Representative form", meaning I will be representing my spouse - then I can use my online portal account
  • If my spouse will not be represented by anyone then should create and use own account for the application

That so far kinda makes sense, but still confused about the lack of official instruction about this on their pages since the sponsor is the person that applies to be a sponsor, whereas the sponsored is just on the "receiving end", which to me meant only the sponsor could do the application.
