They approved my application but no update yet about my wife's application

Type of application vary the time by a very slight margin. I applied for two applications in Feb 2017 on almost same day. One was paper and other was online. Both got visa on almost same time. Difference is only the time spent in between the VAC and embassy. Not a huge difference in processing time for Work Permit application. However if applied for PR or family sponsorship, it make huge difference in processing time.

Well i believe the type does matter. For like you, i have a clear example in my own family. Online May applications are not being processed right now but my sis in law who applied paper-based on may 06, got the med request and is now done with med.

Hello everyone, thanks for all the information that everyone has shared on this forum. I got visa few days ago and would like to share my details so that it can help others.

My wife applied for student visa, she got visa in 10 days, I applied for open work permit after she got visa and got it in around 14 days.

We had a profile in express entry which we had withdrawn before applying for student visa. Our CRS score was 379. We had also mentioned this clearly in the student visa application that we had created an express entry profile earlier and had withdrawn it shortly. Don’t hide any information. Stay true.

Main Applicant details, (my wife, she applied for student visa)

Qualification: BCA and MCA

No Backlogs.

Job Experience: 1 year experience as a Software Developer.

Martial Status: Married

Age: 26 years old.

IELTS Score:

Listening 8.0
Reading: 6.0
Writing: 5.5
Speaking: 7.0

Overall Band Score: 6.5

Applied for 1 year course in Mobile Application development for Jan 2017 Intake.

Timeline:

File Submission:
Online Submission: 9th October, 2016
Medical passed: 11th October, 2016
Visa Approved: October 17, 2016
Got passport in hand – 19th October, 2016

Spouse Details:
Qualification: B.Sc
Occupation: Director at a private limited company.
Previous travel and work history: worked for 1 year in Germany on work permit and travelled to U.K, Europe and few south Asian countries.
Age 31 years old.

Spouse Open Work Permit Timeline:
Online Submission: 24th October, 2016
Medical passed: 26th October, 2016
Original Passport Request – 1st November, 2016
Got passport in hand on 07th November, 2016

@IndianRatatouille thanks for sharing your experience. However, I would like to know the documents you submitted.??????????? My study permit was approved since February 2017(though my program is starting September) so is it the possible to process my spouse's OWP even though I'm yet to land in Canada? Please what are the processes. I am from Nigeria.

I am applying for my spouse open work permit. I have prepared following documents for online application:

Principal applicant documents:
1. Completed IMM forms
2. Degree completion letter
3. Birth certificate, Driving license, Pan card
3. Passport copy (back and front)
4. Digital photograph
5. Pre-medical acknowledgement form
6. Marriage certificate
7. Photographs to proof marital relationship
8. Letter of explanation why she wants to come to canada

Spouse's document from canada:
1. Passport copy
2. work permit copy and study permit copy
3. degree completion letter, final degree and transcripts
4. experience letter from company mentioning NOC code and salary
5. letter from company mentioning job description
6. Last 6 months bank statements
7. last 4 pay stubs
8. Letter of explanation for invitation

anything else which I should submit?
