Pls help me settle this debate I'm having with a friend...
I know someone whose spouse was nominated for PR through the PNP. He is in Canada on a study permit, his spouse (the nominee) has a spousal open work permit connected to the aforementioned study permit.
He dropped out of school about 3 or 4 months ago because he thinks he's entitled to a work permit as the spouse of a nominee and therefore does not need to study.
I told him he's crazy and that if he applies for a WP he may get in trouble if the officer asks for school transcripts and sees a gap in his studies.
Does anyone know if this person is required to continue studying even though his spouse was nominated? Or can he legitimately apply for a WP and drop out of school as the spouse of a provincial nominee? Please provide your input. Thank you
