You should receive an Immigration File Number, use that and applicants( your spouse) info. Last name, DOB, country to log into E-CAS . Will show status of Permanent Resident Application.

Thanks. I tried logging using the application number instead of the UCI and using her info instead of mine (surname / birthday / place of birth) but it says no record can be found. I tried using UCI and same thing.

Also, before logging in, at the scroll down options I chose (sponsorship) -> (spouse)

When was application sent to CIC?
If it's a fairly recent application info might not be updated yet.
My Permanent Residency side on E-CAS would'nt work for a couple months after SA.

If you are a Philippines citizen, the office will be "Manila" and that's all you need because there is only one office called "Manila."

"Housewife" sounds fine to me for occupation.

I suppose "unknown" is okay for intended occupation.

Hi All,

Would anyone have an idea what is the current waiting time when they asked for your passport already? I already submitted my passport last March 4, 2014 via courier service to the Canadian Embassy in Manila. I actually have travel plans in April.

Btw, I am under the family class sponsorship (spouse)and this is my 9th month of waiting. Thanks.

You are supposed to include proof of medical along with the application. This also ensures faster processing time, as there is no long delay if you didn't do it and CIC needs to ask for the medical during processing.

Check here for the nearest CIC panel physicians to you.

There are 3 available in NY state. Call the convenient ones, and see how fast you can get an appointment. On same day when the appointment is finished, you'll get a receipt form from the doctor and that is all you need to submit with your application.

Thank you Rob_TO & BeShoo!

I would be prepared to cancel your travel plans if they require your passport. They can keep your passport for weeks or months, it all depends on visa officer's schedule and you have no way to know.

Just a quick question: how long do you have to wait after landing in Canada (for the first time) to travel out of Canada?

Great - thanks for the feedback. I couldn't seem to wrap my head around why we had to send the police record so early. I really hope that we do not have to re-submit the medical, which was done in August 2013. The medical was such a hassle for us. At the panel physicians they acted like they didn't know how to submit the electronic forms (typical behaviour try to get folks to pay them a bribe) but when I followed up with CIC, CIC said that I should tell the panel physician that if they do not comply CIC will have to contact them to get them setup, and if they still do not comply within (I think it was) 2 months CIC would revoke the doctor as a panel physician. After my husband explained this all of a sudden on his next appointment he was able to get the medical complete electronically.

You can travel out of Canada immediately. However you will need either your PR card or a travel document to return.

Hi, I have a question. First a bit of background about my application. My wife (Canadian Citizen) is sponsoring me for PR. We applied through the Abu Dhabi office in October 2013. I got Request for Documents and Medical on January 13 2014. No updates since then except for 'Medical results have been received' in ECAS. She is living in UAE with me.

Now for the question. We found out she is pregnant. Baby is due in October. She will be going back to Canada to have the baby. Now I need to know if I have to inform CIC about the pregnancy or not? If yes how? From what I understood from reading the AOR from ADVO is that if the principal applicant is pregnant then CIC needs to be informed. In my case I believe I am the principal applicant not my wife who s the sponsor or am I wrong?

CIC doesn't care about pregnancy, whether its the sponsor or principal applicant (unless it prevents an applicant from doing a full medical exam). They only care when a baby is actually born, and needs to be included in the application as a new dependent or family member.
