I checked my husbands application online (in land application) and this is what it said.

"We received your application for permanent residence on October 6, 2011.
We started processing your application on August 30, 2012.
Medical results have been received.
A decision has been made on your application. The office will contact you concerning this decision. "

There was no mention of a letter being sent to us or anything.
Is there anyone else in this situation?
Does anyone know how long the wait is now and what happends next?

Thank you

I believe this should mean you'll be getting a nice envelope from your VO in the next few days!

DOES ANYONE KNOW THE FEES OF AN IMMIGRATION LAWYER THESE DAYS .. TO DO A FAMILY SPONSERSHIP .. FROM START TO FINISH ????

Spouse is currently living in Libya We are going to apply for a visitors visa . but as a lawyer imformed us he will likely get denied .. As I can not go there to meet his family . Unless we were already married . and trying to get him here on a visitors visa as we are told is next to impossible.. Our wedding is planned for November in Europe ... I have to decide whether to come back to Canada and apply for him to come here .. or Go to Libya and apply from there ,Fnding a job is not hard .. And I do have My own Apt which my mom will be taking over till I return .. If I decide to go to Libya! I don't know what to do . This is a real hard choice , Would like to have an Immigration lawyer take care of the process . so we don't mess anything up .. but Need to know the fees !! Maybe Ill just pack up and move to Libya .. But he really wants to come here .. Bc of my mom and my children and my grandchildren :( DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO !!!!!!!

I would probably not emigrate to Libya until they have something close to a real government. You can go to an immigration lawyer for a consultation and he/she may be more aware of what to do but you should be prepared to be separated for a year or more.
The forms and documents are fairly straight forward. There is no skill testing question. The supporting documents are the trick. In this forum I would seek out the advice of other Libyan applicants already in the process to see what their experience is.

I agree with CanadianJeepGuy ..

can you point me in the right direction on this forum ????

I can't find anything on Libya specifically but you can start your own thread and see if there is anyone else out there in a similar circumstance.

I am a Canadian citizen who would like to sponsor my Australian husband. I'm trying to decide whether to apply within or outside of the country. Does anyone know if he can apply for an open work permit if we apply outside of the country? We plan to return to Canada in September on a one way ticket. Does anyone think that this will be a problem?

He will not qualify for an open work permit if you apply outland. He will only qualify for an open work permit if you apply inland.

To ensure he doesn't run into issues entering the country, he should have a return ticket (even if he has no plans to use the second half of the ticket). Remember that he is only allowed to enter the country as a visitor. Time to time airlines will also refused boarding to those who are visitors to a country but only have a one way ticket. Last but not least, return tickets are usually cheaper to purchase than one ways. Buy a return for him.

I have sent my application to CIC on Aug 29, 2011, after they checked , they sent my application to Islamabad embassy on Dec 2011, since then i have got only one email from Islamabad

I think you should order your case notes (GCMS). That will give you an understanding of what the Immigration Officers, who review your file, have determined. It will also let you know just where they are in the processing of your application.
