HELP!

Okay so I applied to Sponsor my husband who is currently in Senegal back in June. I just got approved as his sponsor from Mississauga and now the file has been sent to Dakar for processing. I myself, am a born and raised Canadian so I do not really know how this whole thing works. On the CIC website it says the estimated wait time for spousal sponsorship is 25 months. I HIGHLY doubt that our case is difficult to process with all of our proof, being the same age and having previously lived together for 3 years out of wedlock prior to getting married. I am wondering if it always takes the full estimated time or if it can take less? 25 months is such B.S. and puts such a strain on our relationship! Somebody please tell me that it can go faster?

Time posted on the CIC site is how long it took them to process 80% of applications. In other words, 20% of applications took longer than 25 months to process and 80% took 25 months or less. So yes - it's very possible that your application will take less than 25 months to process.

They should have given you a copy of IMM 1017. You need to send that copy with your application (and KEEP a copy of it for your records). There is a unique serial number on that form that allows them to find your medicals in the IMS computer system.

Good luck!

Yeah i told them too when i was there, but they said they dont know such things... >:(
i will go there again and say they HAVe to give me that paper!!
Thank you :)

I have a query.

is it possible that i apply for PR for my spouse from India( she is in India) and get her tourist visa so that she can come and stay here while PR is in process.

in this case from where should i file the PR for her, canada or India?

i heard that traveling over tourist visa impacts the PR processing, is it true?

is there any other way she can travel here while PR is in process? i am PR here.

Thanks in advance guys

She can apply for a tourist visa but it is harder for spouses to get accepted. In any case, you should apply for her through India because it is faster.

Hi leon, thanks for reply.
i can apply her tourist visa before we get married.
in that case it should be accepted, only thing i am worried that whether canadian tourist visa will affect her pr processing.

It will not affect the PR processing.

@computergeek:
i am getting married in feb(india), so i should apply her canadian tourist visa now and then get married.

do i need to bring her here once before marriage?

don't mind i am really dumb in visa related information and somebody told me that i should not apply for tourist visa if applying for PR.
which actually scared me :(
