I am a US citizen and my husband is a Canadian citizen. We don't want to particularly be apart for much longer seeing as we have been long distancing for 3 years prior to marriage. Should we apply for sponsorship inland or outland? How long does it take for both? Thanks for any advice you can offer! I just want to be with him the fastest most uncomplicated way possible!

outland.

go to cic website for all the forms/documents required. there is also a thread here specifically for US Outland applications.

overall cost is $1050 CDN, payable online through CIC website. Timeline for normal cases seems to range from 5-7 months. Some have taken a little longer. You are able to stay in Canada as a visitor while you wait, but you will need to disclose everything to the border guards when you cross. You will need to go inside and speak with one and it is important you have proofs of funds for supporting yourself without working, etc.

I was given a 1 year Temporary Visitor Record (TVR) when I came across. I had the application complete ready to mail and proof of funds so they knew I wouldn't work. Your spouse should accompany you to the border so the agent can speak with him/her as well.

Again, loads of info here in other threads and also at the CIC website

congratulations for your marriage :)
best option for you is applying outland because you are from a visa exempt country, you can stay inside canada also during processing of your application or your husband can stay in USA with you. you will have full choice of travelling and doing other things but in case of applying inland, you will have to stay inside canada for whole processing time, which is around 2 years. spend enough time before you send your application package to make sure that everything is enclosed in order and read all forms and letters several times before you submit. a very small thing can give you a very hard time (we got interview for next months, because of some mistakes we made in application). if you have any doubt regarding any question or anything else(what to submit and what not to) dont hesitate in sharing your issues here with all of us. its free consultation service, you dont have to spend few thousand $$$$ for that.
wish you a happy life and good luck for your application :)
