I don't think they did my background check faster because I was in Canada. Actually the background check consists of two separate areas: criminality check and security check. The first is done when you first apply because you have to provide valid police clearance certificates, but it seems they put "Background check" on hold in the tracker until the security check is done, which can involve third party companies who do a more thorough check on you in your home country. I'm not an expert on how things work, but I did learn a few things when I phoned IRCC about how criminality check and security check are two separate things.
Last year November my criminality was in progress and my security. They said “stage not reached”. So for now I don’t even know which is done. But I just know that was the last glimpse I got for my application when I first applied and got CSQ. I will just wait

Did you provide police clearance certificates (from your country) when you first applied?

Yes I did. There’s no way I would have submitted without providing it. Maybe they would have been don with my criminality check I really don’t know

Your criminality background check is probably accepted/ok then, it's just the security check that is probably waiting to be done. This can take a while depending on your country I guess. This is the impression I got when I phoned IRCC to enquire about a few things.

Yeah I heard security check take so long. And it’s probably the last before they even give you ppr because once background check is completed then you’re good I don’t think eligibility take that long. Eligibility can be don in a day or 2

Yeah, I guess because my background check and Eligibility were showing as "completed" on my file, it probably means the background check was the last hurdle before they considered me elligible. Anyway, it's a relief. I'm sure you will get yours eventually. I applied a few months before you originally.

I got confirmation of permanent residence today!! Also I don't need to redo the medical... Such a relief.
Congratulations. That’s because you’re now inland no longer Outland. Because inland don’t redo medical. And 2024 inland are really getting update this November. I just pray they start with out land next year. I’m tired and exhausted

Yeah I wasn't sure if they would now regard me as "inland". Originally I was an outland application, but I've been living here for a year so they seem to have taken that into consideration in my case. I was a bit confused about whether I would have to redo the medical.

Sit tight, I am sure it will happen for you eventually. Just have faith. I am actually impressed at how they turned around my file so fast as everything seemed to happen at once at the end.

That’s the fun part of it. When they want to attend to your file everything keep going as fast as possible. In a month everything you’ve been waiting for a year for can just happen right in your face.

Still hoping and praying for my file to be remembered, I have no choice than to wait it out because I applied visitor visa and it was refused last year. So now I just sit tight and pray

Did they say why they refused a visitor visa? Which country are you from if you don't mind me asking?

Thank you!
I can't remember the exact dates, but it's something like this:
I am the principal applicant (UK), sponsor is Canadian (residing in Quebec). It was an outland application.

First applied: February 2024
AOR: About 7 weeks later
Sponsor approval: April 2024
Biometrics completed: April 2024
Medical completed : May 2024
Applied to MIFI for CSQ: May 2024
CSQ received: August 2024
SOWP given: October 2024
October 2024-Nov 2025.....Very long silence..although I made a few enquiries
Background completed: 25 November
Eligibility completed: 25 November
COPR: (today) 27 November

So that's 21 months from start to finish. Not bad for a Quebec application I think. Obviously I still have to complete the online form they have requested before I receive my residency card though.
