Thank you, would you mind letting me know what would the landing interview be like and what questions they might ask and most importantly, what would be the things that i need to make sure to take with me?

All your previous visas become void the minute you land.

So, a driving trip to Chicago should be ok, because you are getting yourself to a land crossing, where you could explain you had not yet received your PR card. They might accept your COPR to allow entry. Though usually they expect a PR Travel Document. I haven't tried this, but theoretically should be possible. Flying, well, you'll not be able to convince an airline to let you fly without a visa or PR card.

You could postpone your landing, and travel without a PR on your present visas, or delay your trip. Those are the options that I see.
Thank you so much for clarifying this. I see on other threads there is a lot of knowledge about this. I am concluding that with CoPR land border crossing is not an issue at all in a private/rented vehicle as we will be travelling together. That said, as long as an airline lets you board, airport CBSA will let you in. I'll see what we can come up with and definitely post back. We live close to the border, so travelling by car isn't an issue but it will prolong our return trip substantially if we come from Asia.

Can't thank you enough for what you do for this forum!

It's like getting a driver's license. Things to bring should be on the landing invitation email. Questions asked are easy, answer truthfully: have you been convicted of a crime in Canada or anywhere, any dependents in Canada or anywhere not listed on app, have you been denied entry to Canada or anywhere, etc.
