Then B1B2 is the visa given which is either business or pleasure but of course even though you're given multiple entries for up to 10 years it's still limited to 6 months max at a time.
To the best of my knowledge, DS160 is the form that gives you those B1/B2 visa. The Visa can range anywhere between 1 yr and 10 years based on if it was subject to 221G

There is no income requirement but the financial requirement is that you must not be receiving welfare benefits.
I maybe wrong he can still do his landing interview and if you want to do it as an extended stay after the landing he's legal I can be wrong
