Hi Profiler,

My OWP will expire on May 23. 2017.
I applied to renew my passport but still didn't get it.
Hopefully I will get it end of this month.
Do you think I can apply to renew my work permit less thn 30 days.
According to CIC they said you should apply 30 days before it expire.
Thanks.

Nah, Nothing. That's why I am confused.
Then simply state that to the officer at your landing...

If they have it (mail room, or otherwise) the day before, then you have implied status.

That part doesn't matter. As long as CIC has it before the date that the old permit expires, the OP will have implied worker status until they send a new permit...

Not bad indeed @browning911. My partner called CIC about two weeks ago because we wanted to know if we could do the landing somewhere else. They said no, and said the current waiting time for Etobicoke is 7 weeks. So I was surprised myself when I received the email yesterday.

My landing letter says I should bring Certified copies of seized ID Documents and Notice of Seizure form, do this documents apply to me? What are they?
Anyone?
Must be a copy/paste error.

Hello All,
This is Manisha, I have a question regarding my travel. I applied for a PR through inland spousal sponsorship in Sep 2016 and I received my OWP valid until Jan 2019. I also have a TRV valid until Dec 2019. Can I travel to the states for a week and come back? Is there any risk involved while re-entering into Canada?
My recent entry into Canada as visitor is on Aug 7th 2016 and applied for PR in Sep 2016, received OWP Feb 4. Now that I have crossed the 6-month limit, is there any problem or it doesn't matter because I got my OWP before 6-month limit?
Please give your suggestion.
Thanks,
Manisha

Yes you can leave Canada to go on vacation but there is a slight risk that you may refused entry back into Canada and your sponsorship application will then be abandoned since you were not allowed to reenter.

That said, many have gone on vacation without any issues. I would not stay out for longer than two to four weeks before PR. We made the decision not to travel outside Canada until after PR since I am risk averse.

If you are going to travel, just make sure you have all relevant documents (Proof of PR/Sponsorship application and OWP) with you.

+ be able to show strong ties to your country of origin. You need to be aware, you will likely be diverted to Secondary for them to assess you for Dual Intent. See: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/temp/visa/dual.asp .

Dual Intent is not illegal, but you should be aware of it, so you can prepare.

I've crossed that border many times during this process. Never been sent to secondary. They just want to see the permit and my passport, ask what I was doing in the US or wherever, and say welcome back.

Apparently you are crossing at the right border then...
