OWP came in the mail today!

It says that I am not authorized to take any professional courses...I am an ESL teacher and need to take a TESL Canada course to work in the majority of ESL institutes in Canada...Any advice on who I should contact/what I can do about this new development?

PR Application received by CIC: Jan 18
Open work permit approved: May 19th
Open work permit in mailbox: May 27th

Think we will do our medical in Sept 2016 since is seems that the SA (Sponsorship Approval) takes approximately seven months from the date of submission of the applications.

Is there anyone for applications submitted in 2016 that has not done the medical yet?

Wow!!! Egerman's work permit took approximately 4 months and logistics took approximately 3 months.

Feb. 3rd applicant.

Used the method in this stream to link my OWP application a couple days ago. This morning received an update email, and my OWP is approved. I guess now is a waiting time to receive the open work permit.

Hi guys,

I received my OWP today!!!!
I applied for PR and sent in my OWP along with the PR application. It was received the 1st of February according to Canada Post.

Its good for 2 years and I have no restrictions to work in a Medical, Agricultural or Educational field because I submitted an additional medical with the OWP application (i.e. One medical for OWP and paid $25 for an additional PR medical - I live in Alberta, fees could be different in another province )

If anyone have any questions regarding PR or an OWP i would be happy to try and answer them. (my email address is wh.p@gmx.com)

wha is this business with the secon medical? This the first time I heard this. Everobody else receiving some restrictions on theeir OWP without explicitly attaching a medical????

My application was received on April 14 and I got my AOR in the email on May 13. I didn't apply for OWP because my wife and I were living at different locations but now we do. I saw the clause online that both partners must be living together and that was why I waited till now.

The processing time for the online OWP application has been reduced to 18days and I'm considering of submitting my OWP application online because it will be faster. My questions are, one of the online questions say do you've AIP which I do not at the moment and If I say no, It will say I'm not qualified to apply for open work permit. Lastly, do I have to do an upfront medical before I could submit my application or not? All helps are welcome to know what I should do as regard to be able to submit my OWP online.

I just got the linkage to work (following the comments made earlier by not including City/Country of Birth), however there is no update under "Check Status". There is an Application Number.

I believe that you're not able to apply online for a Open Work Permit under this pilot program. The 18 days processing time is for work permits extensions. I think that when you dont send an OWP application along with your PR application, you can send it later to Vegreville, AB.

This is on the CIC instructions:

Applicants who have already submitted an application for permanent residence under the SCLPC class but have not yet applied for an open work permit should complete a work permit application, include the appropriate fee, indicating that they are applying for an open work permit, and submit it to the Case Processing Centre in Vegreville, at the following address:

Hello 2016 applicants!

It seems that we already have a few Feb submissions with work permit received last week. Right on the 4 months deadline.
Anybody else is out there with OWP with February applications?
