Yes, very quiet. We are now patiently waiting for our work permit and we still cannot link the application to GC account.
Yes, cant seem to link the owp application, i think you can only link it after 3.5 months of applying or so.

Hi, I have just spoken to CIC and they confirmed that they don't start processing the OWP until the 4 months approaches. Hence why it's difficult to link it... it probably doesn't exist yet :(

They received my app on March 1st, 2016. Waiting very patiently for the OWP ???

You should NOT be thankful for doing a 10 minute job in 4 months!
This is a government service which you are paying for!

what would you say if CRA would sit on your tax return for 4 months? or your drivers licence issuance would take 4 months?

Well since it was my first ever Canadian tax return that did take 9 weeks for it to be done so it took a long time. It is a 10 minute job I agree but considering how backed up they are due to their inability to properly do things then I am amazed they are doing it in 4 months. Also you have to take into consideration how many applications they must receive every day, it will be in the hundreds I imagine so it is a lot of sifting. More money needs to be put into it so they can get the staff to get the backlog done. What amazes me is the 26 months inland processing time! That is the most ridiculous bit, I mean I get the fraudulent claims etc but when you can obviously tell it is a genuine application why the chuff does it take 26 bloody months?

I was also in a bad mood yesterday when I posted the you should be lucky it is only 4 months part

We all know its a long process and of-course things should not take this long, no matter how many applications they may be receiving. Lets stay positive and support each other, im just waiting for liberals do something about this process, like they promised, soon. :) :)

I know, hoping a lot from the new government. (With due respect to Syrians) I feel all the energy and resources of IRCC & its affiliated départements are focussed on Syrians. It's time other applications are shown some consideration too.

Just looking at reasonable processing times, not 27 months.

Just an update on my situation for those needing to leave Canada before OWP approved:

Lodged OWP extension with PR 17 Feb. Left Canada for Australia 7th May & returned today via Vancouver. I applied & was approved ETA online before leaving Australia so that I had a valid visitor permit upon re-entry. Had all my PR & work permit docs with me just in case I had trouble re-entering.

At customs I was asked: Did I have a work permit? No, should hear outcome by 17th June. Where are you living until then? With my partner at such & such address. Is partner Canadian? Yep.

Done. Happy days. Now to see if there's any repercussions to work permit extension or PR application but at least we're back in the same country together & not separated and I can do with a holiday after my short hectic trip home anyway. :)

Yeah 27 months is definitely not reasonable. I would be intrigued to know the stats on things like how many applications they receive each day etc and how long it takes to look through each application. I mean the forms must be pretty straight forward and they should breeze through them quite easily. Either way I am also waiting for the liberals to deliver on their promise of quicker processing times and cutting the amount of time required to become a citizen etc. Fingers crossed we all get dealt with swiftly
