Hi,

Thank you all for replying

@John013 : Thanks for the assist, if I do have any questions I will let you know. One question that pops up, should I already do the Police Certificates and put it in the application or do I just wait until they ask for it. And how old can the Police Certificates be?

@Helena R : I did got some of the answers on a different forum. She can sponsor me as long as she returns to Canada with me, and of course has a gameplan when we land.
She is already in the process of finding a job in toronto, and if she finds a job she will go back to Canada. We will be doing a long distance relationship again, but it will be worth it in the end. Even though I don't need a IELTS test I have an exam in October and when I have the results the application will be sended to the CIC. So we have until October to get the application ready.

@PMM : We have the papers to show the common law for 12 months, so that will not be a issue. We also wrote a gameplan on what we will be doing the minute we arrive in Canada. Also to show that my fianceé will be joining me she is already applying for jobs, and will go back to Canada before me if she has found one.

I would wait till they ask for it, i believe the police certificate can be a maximum of 3 or 6 months old. I applied for one when they send me the request and i received it within a week, so the process is not a big deal if you dont have a criminal record. You can and should fill in Schedule A already, when they ask for it you can then upload it right away, just make sure you use the latest form dated 06-2017.

Hi all, nice to see some fellow Dutch people.
Presently live in UK with Canadian husband who is sponsoring me. Hoping to move to Canada in October. Applied in January, my timeline is in signature, it hopefully gives you all some idea of timeline with Vienna VO.

Hi,
Hope you get your PR soon, did you apply from within the UK? If so how come Vienna and not London VO is processing your application?

@John013 thanks for the info. Schedule A will be filled in before sending the package. Police form is already filled in, but will wait until asked..
If my fiancée gets a job before I apply, I can also submit an open work permit application, but what forms do I need to have for that. And is that for 1 or 2 years?

@John013 did you translate everything in English or did you leave some in Dutch? For example the bill for telephone, gas, electricity.
I need to send that to prove common law.

Open work permits are only given out when applying Inland, from within Canada. Since you both live in the Netherlands that will not be applicable, you could look into Working Holiday Permit, but they have quotas and you have to apply for them during a certain period.

You dont have to translate bills, as long as it shows your names, address etc. I think i only had my diplomas translated. Dutch police certificate has a small portion in English which is sufficient for them. So yeah, if you have any other government documents that are not in English i would have those translated and certified. but for the rest i cant think of anything.

Thanks, fingers crossed PR comes relatively quickly for all of us, just hate the waiting. Husband and kids are threatening to go without me soon. Have lived in U.K. For 25 years, but as all applications need to be sent to Mississauga first, they then sent it to VO based on nationality I think.

Oh cool, thought they picked the VO based on country of residence, well learned something new! Yes waiting is the worst, we should be glad they are speeding up the process now though, aiming for a max processing time of 12 months is a lot better than what they had before. I wish i could go there already too, but living there on visitor status isnt easy unfortunately.

Know that there is absolutely zero point in doing the IELTS for a spousal sponsorship app. It is completely irrelevant to the app and will most likely just be discarded by the visa officer, so it doesn't make sense to put off submitting your app until then.

@canuck_in_uk thanks for your reply. I thought it would be smart to have just in case, there is even a question on the form that is asking if you can show your level of English. Why would they ask a question like that if it isn't relevant

That's good to know. Is there a specific translation agency that you used. I used a company called Univertaal for the translation of my diploma

We used a company in Toronto, on the corner of Finch and Yonge called Docsbase.

The forms are generic, used across different immigration streams with different requirments. As I said, it is completely irrelevant to a spousal app.
