Can you kindly respond to a couple of questions please?
1- I read that no minimum income requirement is required for sponsorship of spouse-- Does the form 1283 need to be completed?
2- If form 1283 is required:
a- my wife has been working for the school district as a sub and we filed jointly in the US-- Does the CIC need the past 12 months tax return for the US or the last 12 months when employed in Canada because the form asks for info from "line 150"?
b- my wife's salary will be greatly increased when employed in Canada (employment letter in hand for her salary upon return to canada) vs her current salary in the US-- Is this taken into consideration?
3- Do the following forms need notarization? marriage certificate, passports, birth certificate, police certificate
4- Does anything that is a copy need notarization?
5- Once all forms are completed, do they all get sent together to Vegreville, AB if we're planning on relocating to Red Deer, AB?

Thanks again so much for your response and assistance!!!!

1. Fill out IMM 1283 only if the spouse being sponsored has dependent children with children of their own. Otherwise, just fill out IMM 5481.

2. ?

3. no, no, no, no

4. no

5. If you are living in Canada at the time you apply, then yes, send your application to Vegreville. Otherwise, the application goes to Mississauga.

Here is a link to CIC's website for sponsoring your spouse from within Canada. Pay special attention to the document checklist.

Thank you so much for the response and help. However, if "notarization" is switched to "guarantor", does that change the responses?

Copies of the documents are adequate. CIC will attempt to verify some or all of them. If they run into problems, they'll let you know. So there's no need for you to provide independent verification.
