Sponsorship approval by email or by letter?

I've still not got an answer on this... If in the sponsors papers you provide an email address, will they email you their decision instead of sending you a letter in the post?
Underneath where you put your email in the form it does say something like "by providing an email address you are giving permission for cic to use it to contact you about your application"

So email or letter?

Hi Shandymoo, just wanted to give you a bit of insight into London's office. After you receive the letter of approval for sponsorship, you will not receive AOR. You may see ECAS update to IN PROGRESS within a few weeks (mine took 26 days) but unless they require something from you, you will not receive anytihng. On the CIC for UK website it explains this and I wanted to let you know this because you will see that other embassies send out AOR's etc and probably wonder where yours is. If all goes smoothly, the next thing you will hear will be the email with a request for passport. MandiF will went through the entire process without her ECAS ever being updated so don't be alarmed, no news is good news from London! In addition, it could be 2 months to 5 months after, every case is different so keep yourself busy!!
