Sponsor's role

Hi all, I was just wondering..... what role does a sponsor play after the file has been transfered to the regional visa office. is his/her information investigated like the applicant's? Thanks for taking out the time to read the post.

I'd imagine that the sponsor's information is investigated during the sponsor approval process. Once approved and the file is transferred, it is mainly the applicant that is investigated.

however if circumstances change wherein the sponsor would no longer qualify to sponsor, the information should be sent to CIC.

The official investigations are about the applicant, yes. But the at the VO they asses the genuineness of your relationship, and the sponsor is part of that.

Also, lately CIC left it to the VOs to check the intent of return for the sponsors that are living abroad with their spouses.
