Dear All,

I wonder if this forum can help and shed some knowledge on the below matter.

A sponsor who was handling the sponsorship for settlement in Canada for two females in Thailand has all of a sudden withdrawn the undertaking without notifying the applicant. And the refugee case was refused without an interview with the overseas visa office. The application received two emails, one addressing to the applicant that your sponsor has withdrawn the undertaking in your favour and the other to the sponsor confirming they no longer wished to proceed with the sponsorship and withdrawing their support in the applicant's favour.

The applicant has tried reaching their sponsor in Canada and they are not responding they have completing gone silent.

Please advise what can be done in this case. The refugee family is in burden and currently in Thailand in limbo.

Please advise.

Unfortunately, if the sponsors have withdrawn, and this is a sponsored refugee application, I don't know what can be done. I hope others here have a suggestion for them.

Without using a "crystal ball", how could anyone here know why the sponsor decided to withdraw? Regardless, if they have withdrawn, it's over. There is nothing they can do apart from find another sponsor.

Thank you for responding.

Would it be possible if you can put the word forward to see if anyone has a response? I am new on this forum and don't know how to get the most out of it.

Thanks. Thats the thing. The Sponsor is not responding or didn't even inform the applicant.

Then it's "Game Over". It's as simple as that. Sorry.

Aside from starting again, with a new sponsor, I don't think there is a solution. I'm terribly sorry.

Can you please speard the word and help to see if their is a solution.
As they would have had to have been formally recognised by UNHCR (or equivalent) as refugees to even become sponsored applicants, the most likely alternative is to be resettled by UNHCR (or equivalent).

Can something legally be done against the sponsor who has withdrawn the sponsorship? like an appeal or report against them
No possibility of that at all. Sponsorship is a voluntary choice. People are allowed to withdraw without penalty.
