I submitted my refugee claim in February 2025. Within the first two months, I completed my medical exam and received my work permit. After that, I was waiting for my hearing date. At the end of January 2026, during a consultation with my lawyer, I found out that my Basis of Claim (BOC) had not been submitted/missing to IRB file. However, my background check had already been completed in October 2025.
At that time, my lawyer immediately submitted the Basis of Claim. Now, I am waiting for the next update or further action on my case.
Has anyone had a similar experience with late BOC submission in a refugee claim?
I would like to know what the possible outcome could be and when I can expect my hearing date.
