My spouse is currently a college student in Canada and will be graduating in December. I previously applied for a study permit but was refused. We are now considering applying for a SOWP, and I have a few questions:

  1. Can I apply for a SOWP while my spouse is on maintained status and working in a cybersecurity role, or do we have to wait until his PGWP is officially approved? I understand PGWP approval can take several months.
  2. On average, how long does it take for PGWP applications to be processed?
  3. What is the usual processing time for a SOWP application?

1. No. Unless he is taking a degree program.
2. Once he applies for PGWP, you can apply for SOWP with job letter and payslips. Check to see if his job is eligible for you to get a SOWP.
3. 6 months.
4. Depends where you live.

Hi, I applied for my work permit in May. After applying, I had a baby. Now I’m waiting for it to get approved because I urgently need to travel to my home country with my baby. Can you tell me how much more time it might take?
