Hi everyone,

I wanted to share our timeline and ask for your insights regarding current processing times. We applied for a Study Permit (main applicant) and a Spouse Open Work Permit (SOWP) from Turkey.

Here is our timeline so far:

*Application Submitted: September 1, 2026

*My Biometrics (SOWP): Already valid from a previous application

*Biometrics Collection Letter (BIL) for Main Applicant: October 8, 2026

*Biometrics Completed & System Updated: October 8, 2026

It has been about 6.5 weeks since our initial application, but only about a week since the main applicant's biometrics were fully updated in the system. I know the recent Thanksgiving holiday might have slowed things down a bit.

Has anyone experienced a similar timeline recently where the biometric request came a bit later in the process? Also, based on current trends, what is the average waiting time from "Biometrics Completed" to PPR for SP+SOWP applications?

Application times are extremely variable but can take many months to get approvals/refusals for study permits. Thanksgiving will not have impacted your application processing. Are you Turkish citizens living in Turkey? Are you applying for a masters or PhD program? At what school? Hopefully a public university.

So only spouse's of Master/PhD/specific degrees are eligible for SOWP. How are you eligible for SOWP?
