Hi
I am doing my Ph.d in Canada. Me and my spouse applied together for the study permit and his open work permit. We did an online application. We applied on 13th Nov,2014. My application was approved on 18th Dec, 2014 but my spouse application is still open. Its almost 2 and a half months now. Does anyone know what they are doing with my spouse's application and how much more time will they take for the processing?

Regards

Candy
It's going to be 3 months on 4th for my spouse's OWP application. On top of that, application processing is more than the published in few cases because of winter break. :(

HI P3,
Minimum processing time is 2 months. Most of us got the response by 2.5months. So. maybe you need to wait for few more days. You will definitely get a response. :) Since, it was end of year submission, it might be a bit delayed because of year end and christmas holidays.

Be positive :)

Regards,
Deh

Do we know why so many Open Work Permit applications are getting rejected? Makes me worried since I've applied recently (1st Feb)?

Hello everyone, I recently had my spouse who is in india, apply the SOWP and following are our timelines

a. Application submitted w/ all the documents - Nov 26th 2014
b. Request for medicals - Jan 19th 2015
c. Passport with visa stamping and introduction letter - Jan 31,2015

My background - I work full time in Canada with a leading organization after finishing my graduation with a business school here. So currently on post graduate work permit. I got court marriage done in india in nov 2014 and had my fiance/wife apply for her spousal visa which we received in 2 months.

I understand it is a waiting game, I am willing to help how much I know in this regard. Let me know if i can help

Cheers !

I need help please

I'll explain my situation.
I graduated in Aug 2014 and got my 3 years PGWP in November 2004. I am working full time, permanent job on NOC level B. My boyfriend came on Student Visa in jan 2015.
Now we are thinking to get married.
So my question is once we get married, can he apply SOWP within Canada as my husband based on my work permit.

You can't do medicals after you have submitted your application. You can do it as upfront i.e. before submitting and add evidence of having done it along with your application docs or you do it on request by the embassy.

My answers

EEapplicant - Paper based are really slow, always stick with online

priyankaj - yes he can get an open work permit. Outland applications are faster compared to Inland, try and see if you can do that

Hey P3,

As far as I have observed regarding the rejections, the student spouse open work permit (Main applicant's spouse is a student in Canada) applications are getting rejected mostly. Most of the SOWP, say around 80 plus% (of only those who are updating their status in this forum) are being accepted if the main applicant's spouse already has a permanent job in Canada.
And as others said, please don't submit your medicals before they request for it. Medicals is not the most likely reason to reject an application or delay an application. So don't worry. Just be positive. :)
Minimum wait period is 2.5 months from the date of application.
Regards,
Deh
