hi everyone, i applied under cec with Noc 6235 Financial sales rep, i was working for BMO as a Financial Services Manager over a year. After many efforts, the manager wrote the letter with my work title, full time position, start and end dates and salaries with simple duties : TO PROVIDE DAY TO DAY BANKING SOLUTIONS AND INVESTMENT OPTIONS TO CLIENTS. TO CONTINUALLY DELIVER CONSIST GREAT CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE

I also included my current job offer, CIBC Financial Services Rep II, of course it has a better salary.

My concern is that since the BMO letter didnt give lots details about my duties, and it doesn't mention about loan and mortgage duties(but it was mentioned under Noc 6235), will I have big chance to get declined?

The noc 6235 at CIC's website contains following:
Main duties

Financial sales representatives perform some or all of the following duties:

Open new personal and non-personal accounts, and provide access to automated banking machine, telephone banking and online banking services
Interview applicants for personal, mortgage, student and business loans
Promote the sale of deposit, investment, credit and loan products and services
Assist clients by proposing solutions to address financial objectives such as business expansion, debt management, investment and other financial goals
Research and evaluate loan applicant's financial status, references, credit and ability to repay the loan
Complete credit and loan documentation
Submit credit and loan applications to branch or credit manager with recommendations for approval or rejection; or approve or reject applications within authorized limits ensuring that credit standards of the institution are respected
Prepare statements on delinquent accounts and forward irreconcilable accounts for collector action
Review and update credit and loan files
Act as joint custodian for cash and securities.

BTW, I had mutual fund license when i was working for bmo, but i wasn't responsible for loan/mortgage.

This simple one liner will not suffice. Check out a recent refusal story...directly relates to this situation.

Your employer needs to be clear on duties and tasks, by providing them in detail. The reference letter is meant to establish your case, since the decision will be based on the skill level of your employment. Job offers you may possess are irrelevant, as they are not the focus of your application. The VO will evaluate your actual experience in Canada, rather than the perceived notion of what you may do in the future. Look at the NOC closely and try to reason with your employer, so that they include more detailed information. If unable, provide proof of refusal, and other means of supporting your claim...job posting description, hr paperwork, contracts and any other relevant documents you can acquire. The info should closely resemble or match the following main duties, as identified on the HRSDC website. Good luck!!

That doesn't matter for the application. You really just need to wait and see, you could be lucky ! But, it's unlikely if you have an extremely vague ref. letter.

Not usually - it's all based on ref letter. However, you may be lucky!

Agree with Andy on this one! I too would suggest not disclosing your employer info. The company itself is irrelevant. They are screening your job and its skill level, not the field and prestige of a company.

And as jsm0085 put it, your attached letter will probably not have a bearing on the evaluation, unless you are lucky. Anyone could print that and attach it. Thats why they ask for a company reference that is on official letterhead, with signatures and seals.

Perhaps if you had a contract that spoke to the position you hold...since its more official.
