Hi Guys and gels,

Currently we are on the process of applying for FSW to Alberta and still new to all the lingo and acronyms, anyway my family (wife and 2 kids) are here in Singapore, Ive been reading a few pages back and is a bit worried, coz we are planning to submit our Application this Dec 2013 here in Singapore.
Now my question, We are from the Philippines and are PR here in Singapore, would it be possible to submit our application to Philippines ( Manila) VO instead of
Singapore VO? or I should submit it to the country of Residence? sorry still new at this and hope I will be enlightened.

thanks so much in advance and good luck to all of us.
Better choose VO Manila. Manila is much faster rather than here in SG. Just a piece of advise. :)

Actaually it depends on the CIO, since you are in Thailand they will send your application to SG only.

You can either choose the country of origin or country of residence. If you're country of origin is Philippines and just working in Thailand (which is the country of residence), you can choose Manila Visa Office. You will put Manila Visa Office in the application form and the CIO will forward your application to VO which you put in the application.

Under Provincial Nominee Processing Times
Manila - 11 months
Singapore - 25 months

You choose. :)

Thanks so much for your answers, aside from writing Manila as my VO,I am thinking of writing a request letter also that I will choose Manila as my VO because my son is 23 years old already and if my application will be sent to SG,he will not be included in going to Canada someday if it is approve.I am worried if my application will be under SG VO.

Hi,

That's what am worried of if my application papers will be sent to SG VO. I've read in other posts that someone was able to transfer their VO. Thanks so much

Calgary here I come!!
For everyone's information:

the office is close on both mondays and fridays- Tues, Wed, Thurs are opened for 1 hr from (can't remember if its, 830am till 930am) for submissions.Spoke to the security guard just now and he was telling me that he just have to work 3 days, and only 2hrs each day even though he is paid the same. haha....Staffs are working on Mondays and Fridays also but it's not open to public. Afternoons are for green slips( which i have no idea what that refers to)

i think if they are short handed, they should really think of employing more people and cutting the processing time. I have no idea if this slowing down is because Canada prefers immigrants from a certain country/race but that would be discrimination, wouldn't it?

I believe this is not the case discrimination, they are piled up with student visa and work visa, which they have clear at a fast pace. Just to let you know I had applied for OWP from SG office. They send me Medical and PCC Request in 2 months time. I sent my PCC last week and within 3 days they sent me a mail for Passport request. So I hope the processing time for PR applications should also pick up soon. Expecting that they should be able to cut the timeline at least by 20 months by year end.

Generally, the CIO in Nova Scotia will decide where to forward your application depending on the volume of applicants from them.
As far as I know your 23 yo son can't be included as your dependent anymore because only until 22 yo and must be a fulltime student are technically included in PR application currently.
And by Jan 2014, CIC will take into effect a new definition of dependent children to under 19 yo only at the time of application.

@maplelove,

Thank you for your answers, I appreciated it much. I am clinging on this statement from the website which states that eligible accompanying dependants include adult children between the ages of 18 and 25 who are:not married or in a common-law relationship, pursuing, fulll-time academic, professional or vocational training. My son is not financially independent and he is still pursuing full-time studies.
Would you please share the link for the new definition of dependents for January 2014? Am so worried because I will lodge my application next month.

To my forum mates here, please if you would to share ideas regarding this matter,it is very highly appreciated.Thank you so much.God bless.

I came across about the Jan 2014 dependent children when I filled up my AINP AWE category form (AINP 007-AWE form) please double check it yourself under the dependent category, you click the ? icon there. I tried to search for it in CIC website but I couldn't find that certain effectivity too.
So that means you can still use the old definition if you lodge your application before Jan. 1, 2014.
Good luck.
