So today , the gov agency called me and said, her boss said he has never heard of any body who isnt sponsered by a proffessor of a university to have an OPEN WORK PERMIT ..this is crazy !!!! she told me to call service canada to see if I can work with a 9 SIN ..after explaining yet again to this women I am legal to work with 9 and OWP , so just to satisfy the gov agency I called Service Canada only to be told YES I can work with 9 SIN and OWP ..FFS this gov agency are bonkers LOL....

So this is some kind of dusty old government office in the basement of some dusty old government building located somewhere nobody can find it? Because if they have never heard of open work permit except for students, they must not get a lot of people in there. You might point out to them that they can read the CIC website and find loads of open work permits: for students, for post grads, for refugees, for spouses and live in caregivers with first stage approval as well as spouses and dependents of foreign workers and students and that may not be all of them, just the ones I can remember off the top of my head. I wonder why the government doesn't hire people who know what they are doing or at least educate the people they have. Sheesh.

Leon, I told her for the umpteenth time this morning that the information her boss has given her is wrong and needs updating , this is when she says, call service canada, im thinking...FFS women know your job will you LOL ..then she informed me , only refugees have SIN numbers with 9 ..by this time I have steam coming out of my ears trying to keep calm. so I called her back to confirm yes I am legal :o then she says to me, how unusual Ive never heard of this before :o :o :o I explained there are different work permits, ie; students .skilled workers etc..then she was totally confused, and to top it off this women is managing director of a gov office. ( partnersinemployment)

She added at the end of our call, we have lots of new immigrants here but none with the number 9 LOL

Maybe it is a place that mainly assists newly landed PR's. Tell her she can look up SIN information at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_Insurance_Number :) I landed in Toronto and my SIN starts with a 4 so at least that fits.

Thanks Leon , your probably right .

But I will give the lady my grattitude anyway, as she helped me with an aptitude test I didnt do very well on the 1st time round LOL omg its been years since ive used my brain 8) then she had the decency to put me through to a company with a pass on my test . so now I have an interview with a well known company :D

I think she's probably knew and wasnt sure about things.
