Hello everyone,

I have my medical coming up on tuesday and even though I have done an extensive research on this topic but haven't got a straight answer. Before I received my medicals I was using recreational drugs such as Cannabis once in a while. I am not sure if I should worry about the traces of THC in my urine and can it lead to a rejection? Even though a lot of people have said CIC doesn't care about marijuana in the system but I still wanted to ask someone with similar experience if you even mention it to your physician incase mine questions me? I am really confused if physician will confront me with this but if he does how should I reply? Any help will be really appreciated.

Cheers

It is not tested for.. It's your choice to mention or not. Personally, I don't think that it's a medical issue. It may be illegal, but that's an entirely different matter.

Wait, you said "recreational drugs SUCH as cannabis

What else have you been doing?

Did you also not consider that as a temporary resident, doing illegal drugs can not only impact your PR application but also get your current status removed? I suggest you wait until towards the end of your medical deadline and then do your medical - depending on what other drugs you've been taking

Or start collecting Tim Horton cups. You might need them later if you decide to follow up on your drug use :p

They don't test for it. They want to make sure that you are not going to put a heavy strain on the medical system. Don't mention it.

Listen everyone who's trying to judge me on any basis here. I did not ask this question so you can call me fool or dumb ass and whatever I do with my life is completely my business. I am not an addict or anything and neither I have ever used any other drug. I simply asked this question because I couldn't find the answer anywhere. If you can't answer my question that's fine but I won't appreciate you calling me idiot. Thank you.

You shouldn't mention it, and even if you did I highly doubt they check for it in greater detail. Though if I were you and did it occasionally it would take about 15 days to leave your system completely, I would delay your medical for three weeks and mention something else has come up if possible. That way it would have left your system by then.

He doesn't have to mention it to his physician if it's not asked for. It's not even illegal in Canada, it's frowned upon. You'll only get arrested if it's over a certain amount found with you.as you'll be regarded as a dealer. I don't believe it's something CIC checks for at all. Don't listen to any punk talking bad about you, listen to the positve people and good luck with your application process

do you know what CIC officers do after work when they meet together for a beer?

They read this forum and they do not know whether they should cry or laugh.
A little off topic, but that's an amusing thought for sure! 8)

I bet ~75% of CIC officers have smoked pot at some point in their lives, just like everyone else in Canada. Seriously, the jerks who are slagging the OP for toking up don't seem to realize that they're also slagging the professors, police officers, members of Parliament and IT professionals of their new home. Cripes, what's with the googly eyes and the shock and amazement that someone, IN CANADA!!!, might smoke pot?

You guys know, right, that one economic estimate has marijuana production being responsible for 1 in 14 jobs in British Columbia?

You fail to understand one thing. The reason he\she gets this response is because he\she did not think it through and did these things when a medical request should be expected within a reasonable timeframe.

And the 1 in 14 jobs in BC are related to drugs, I highly doubt that. Show the statistics that proof that and I'll believe your story.
You're clearly using or have used and that's perfectly fine with me. I couldn't care less about what you (or OP) does in their life.

However, if you're making a post like OP, expect to be critized as its just a stupid move. Nothing more than that.

To OP
You don't need to worry about it. I know ppl who smoked a day before their medical tests and passed it. CIC is not looking for THC levels in your blood/urine so, don't sweat about it.
If you are still concerned you can try this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oqOOzde1oM
Lot of ppl swear by it but,try it at your own risk.

I don't smoke pot but I don't care -- I'll look for the reference when I'm not at work.

You're not going to get rejected because you smoked pot. There is no need to mention it at all. You'll be fine.
