Hi guys
My local office is (going to be) Ottawa, Ontario and I'm planing to go for 1 month trip to my home country about 1.5 months after applying for citizenship.
That being said my application will be about 1.5~2.5 months old whether in process or not by the time I'm outside Canada.
Considering how slow the process is in Ottawa now, I don't think it's really necessary.
But I think I read somewhere on CIC website saying I should inform CIC about over two weeks travel abroad while application in process.
I need to know because I have to book flight ticket soon.
Many thanks!

Yes you should inform

Please read the following:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/become-after.asp

While we process your application, you should only contact CIC if:

you change your address,
you plan to leave Canada for more than two weeks in a row,
you are charged with a crime or
we do not contact you about your file within the posted processing times.
