Hello all

Wondering if anyone of you had experienced a major delay on postal services when you sent your apps to Mississauga.
To explain what I mean.

I sent our 1 kilogram parcel Registered by the Greek Postal Service on Feb 7th. The tracking showed that the parcel was received from me on that day and after processing it was on a flight to Canada on the next day Feb 8th.
So far so good!

Since that day the parcel does not appear any longer in any tracking. Every time I enter the number on Canada Post their system replies "We were not able to find any results"

I called Canada Post yesterday from overseas and after giving them the tracking number they came with the same results. My parcel only shows exiting Greece. The agent i spoke to told me not to worry and eventually it will turn up somewhere. Nice! :(

Today is day 14th since the sendoff of our dear parcel containing months of frustration to collect all documents, translations etc etc etc
Earlier today I called the Greek Post Office and they told me to go there tomorrow and apply for a search and locate service!

We'll see anyway. I keep my hopes up and pray to God that parcel somehow was delivered to CPC-M and they probably (Canada Post) forgot to scan it so it did not appear on my tracking queries

Please let me know if anyone had a similar experience

Thanks and bless you all

Sorry to hear that!! that's really frustrating. I hope indeed that your package got there and CP didn't scan it, and you get the AOR from Mississauga soon enough !
Fingers crossed,
Sweden

1Thank you Sweden
Hope so too

Indeed really frustrating. I hope it gets there safely, and you get your AOR soon.
Keep us posted, messenger :)

Oh dude! Sorry to hear that.

Hopefully the greek postal service can help you. There were delays on the east coast because of the snow so maybe that has something to with it.

Keep us updated and wish you luck!

Thank you Iay and Gary

Certainly will!

One thing strange you said, why are you checking your tracking number on CP ? you should check it on the website of courier you used to sent it.

I agree. You should be using the Greek Postal Service tracking website. It will never show up on Canada Post. Only things mailed in Canada can be tracked through Canada Post.

Try this site:
http://www.packagemapping.com/

Oftentimes tracking isn't very reliable across the border, so it could just be that. I've often shipped items from the US to Canada and did not get any tracking information after it reached the Canadian border.

or try this one http://www.trackingnumber.org/
that's how I found out my package had been delivered to Mississauga when the Swedish website would not tell me anything!
Hope it works for you!

Actually, package sent between US and Canada using USPS and/or Canada Post can be tracked once it's scanned in their respective systems. Of course, never rely on USPS. Worst tracking service ever. OP could check with Canada Post and see if similar tracking can be done with Greek's postal service.

Thank you pardesifr, Canuck20, VanSquirrel, Sweden, Mevakesh

When you send with your country's PO then you can track your item up to the last scan it was done within the country of the sender. My parcel was last scanned on the 8th of Feb just before loading on the airplane.

Then when it arrives in the receiver's country you may track it on this country's PO (in my case Canada Post)
The reason why Canada Post track service is not showing my parcel could be more than one.

1. Parcel Lost or Stolen upon arrival (Worst case scenario)
2. Weather conditions did not allow containers to be moved from the airplane (likely Impossible)
3. Parcel arrived in Canada but was not scanned and eventually delivered to CPC-Mississauga in which case if I am lucky I would get
an AOR any day now (The Best Scenario)

On an added note here guys. Is there any way to contact CPC and tell them my part of the story and have them verify that they did or didn't receive my package? I know they have a phone number listed but that's only for In Canada calls. Any email or some other means to contact them?

From what I know, registered mail (almost everywhere in the world) doesn't get scanned on every step - and it differs from country to country - for instance USPS is quite bad about that BUT canadapost is much better and you are able to see some of the tracking reports on the canadapost site - I know for sure that if you send by national postal service (not commercial) from europe it eventually shows on canada post - we send stuff quite often and in 99% of cases it shows up on the site. that's registered mail with 13 symbols tracking number - 2 letters then 9 numbers then 2 letters again.

So registered mail goes pretty slow (12-15 BUSINESS days) - doesn't get a lot of scans - gets delayed reports but eventually shows up

I just looked up - a parcel we sent on the 11th showed up on a website on the 20th - still in transit, a parcel we sent on the 10th - showed up on the 21st, and sent on the 4th - showed up on 15th. And from that time it takes about a week or 10 days to get to the location in Canada.

Dear spaceraceone thank you so much for writing these facts.

What a relief my friend to read what you said above. My parcel now is in its 14th day but only 9 business days since it left Greece!
Let's hope so that I get a notice soon

Thanks again and God bless

OK. This is how it works. You sent your documents via Hellenic Post and they are still under their care until they are received and inducted into the Canadian postal stream. All scannable items are scanned automatically as they enter the mail stream here in Canada. Depending on the terms of the post office you purchased the service with not all domestically scannable items are scanned internationally. I know this is true of Deutsche Post.
If it is a trackable number it will be married to the tracking number issued through Canada Post (in most cases the tracking numbers do not change).
International mail can take up to 5 business days to be received so that would mean your package should have arrived around the 15th. Quebec/Ontario has had some bad weather so add a few days delay and that would bring you to about the 18th or 19th. Keep checking through Canada Post online and see if it pops up over the next few days.
