as I couldn’t have seen any thread about Self-employed application in 2021 I would like to start one to be able to share our experience and if we can help each other.
We sent our application in the beginning of the year under the 5241 NOC number from Europe.
So fingers crossed.
We just now have received our temporary application number, and waiting for any further step.

Hello friends, Any update on anyone's file or have anyone got any update in their application? My last update was the AOR and ADR in Mar, 2024 and since then I am waiting for the update. My biometric is valid and Processing started in Mar, 2024 and I submitted my file in July, 2021 and it's been 63 months now. please tell me if anyone is facing the same way my file.

Get a lawyer to file on your behalf. You need to have an explanation of the error in law so what were all the reasons for refusal? JR is not commonly used because you outline the error in law. If you "win" it goes back to an officer to review and you can be refused again. So what is your NOC because 5312 is a subset? Did you have a business plan on how you would be self employed? How much did you estimate you would make per year? You outline how you included a business plan on how you would support yourself as a self employed artist without taking on another job. State the error in law as included feasible and realistic business plan that you can implement.

Given the changes to the program with only 500 being selected every year including start up visa, your chances are low.

Hi everyone,


I have some sad news to share. I applied for Canada PR under the Self-Employed category (NOC 5312) back in 2021. In March 2024, I received my RPRF and biometrics request, but on November 6th, I received a rejection email. I now have the full refusal letter with me.


The refusal states that the visa officer does not believe I would be able to build a self-employed career in Canada. My visa office was Delhi.


Has anyone here filed a Judicial Review after a self-employed PR rejection?
If yes, what was your timeline and did it benefit you in any way?


I’m planning to proceed with a Judicial Review, so any insights or experiences would be really helpful.
