Rumors about an executive order that bans the entry H1b holders around.

I read rumors on a lot of websites that U.S is considering banning H1b holders from re entering the U.S. The order is likely to be passed by the end of this month. Is it safe to do the landing process now? Our intention is to land, quarantine and get back to U.S. I am assuming this is going to impact the AVR rule. I also heard this could be in place for around 6 months. Anybody has any info on this?

The article says any "NEW" H1-B holder, which is interesting. I wonder if it would include people who got their visa approved for the first time and haven't entered USA yet. Regardless, this is utter BS. Why have you go through the entire visa approval process and bar entry later. Another reason why I opted to become Canadian PR. This would definitely put my plans on hold since I am scheduled to fly with my family on July 1st through July 18th. I have a final interview planned for a really good position in Canada so that's another fiasco.

it is hard to say, but too many people commute because they have Canadian PR and US H1-B Visa, the worldwide economie is not good. and Permanent Residence is to live inside the country not to commute.
I wish it could happen the best for all of us.

No one knows yet as this is also not an official news(just the lobbyists expectations) but it will be easier to ban new visas(dont know if it would be New quota alone) rather than existing visas/residents. If they ban existing visas then the guys travel for vacation will also get into trouble, including the candidates using avr, so this will create more confusion in implementation and too much work rather than simply banning new visas.

if so then this will be a major set back for all dreamers expecting to travel to US for first time. Will see what happens. But given the political year, i expect some sort of restriction will be issued till this year to grab votes in Nov.

The rumors are true. Reported by many US news outlets and lawyers. President does have the power to ban entry and he can enforce it. I think landing is very risky. Do you have to stay for 14 days? Can't you just turn around and come back while it is open?

Some mildest form of restrictions would definitely come. Most likely they will suspend issuing new visa stamps for 60-90 days or something. It won't make a difference anyways because consulates are already closed.

If they are going to extend the current ban(along with additional restrictions) then they will just do it the last night of the expiry and surprise everyone with the ban from next day morning?

I see the point. If I am not wrong 21st June is the last day of the existing ban.

I am In exactly same situation. I am in Windsor currently and still deciding whether to go to Detroit tomorrow morning or no.
I also can't work from home as I am in automotive manufacturing.
Hopefully, there will be atleast a day after he signs the order and before it actually begins.
