Renewing PR Card while in process of applying for citizenship

hi,
I have a PR card that expires next year and i will be overseas with my CAD spouse... I understand that I can apply for a PR renewal card if I apply within Canada 6 months before expiry. Will the renewal process be affected if I am already in the process of applying for citizenship?

NO, the renewal process won't be affected. I would advice to just go ahead and renew your PR card while you have 6 months ahead of the expiration date. DOn't wait and just rely on the citizenship process to be done because that takes too long. Be on the safe side. Apply for the PR Card. It wont affect your renewal process.
