Renew the PR card living outside of Canada

I am a Canadian PR but only lived in Canada for half a year and moved to another country after I got the PR card. My partner is a Canadian citizen but we aren't married. I heard living outside of Canada in a common-law relationship with a citizen still counts the same as living in Canada. Is it true? If it is, what kind of documents should we prepare to in order for me to renew the PR card?

You have to renew your card in Canada (although I have seen one case where they didn’t). Time spent living with your Canadian citizen spouse outside of Canada does count towards residency obligation. It doesn’t count towards citizenship. If you aren’t in Canada, and don’t plan to return, they may offer you a multi entry PRTD instead.
