Hello everyone,

Hoping you can help shed some light on my question. My mother is a permanent resident in Canada, both of her parents are deceased and she is not married. She has asked if she is eligible to sponsor myself (and subsequently my wife and son) to Canada? I have read the below:

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...ship/other-relatives/who-you-can-sponsor.html

but I am still uncertain if she would be eligible to sponsor me?

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated

Richard

Does she have any children in Canada?

Is she living with anyone / in a common law relationship?

Does she have any other relatives in Canada (e.g. cousin, aunt, uncle, etc.)?

If the answer to all of the above is no, then it sounds like she would qualify to sponsor you provided she meets income requirements.

Yeah, I have my Brother and his family in Newfoundland and my Mom, Dad, Brother and Sister in Alberta...but still nothing.

If your brother and sister are in Canada, she won’t be eligible to sponsor you.
