Does anyone know how long it takes to get the registered mail back from Singapore? I have a big decission to make as I have received following from CHC S'pore:
"In our previous correspondence with you, you were advised that your passports would be available for pick-up at the High Commission of Canada in Dhaka. However, the Immigration Section of the High Commission of Canada in Dhaka is now closed. Therefore, it is no longer possible to deliver your passports to you through this method. Our office will return your passports to you by registered mail on Monday, May 7, 2012 at the following address:************
If the option to receive the passports by registered mail is not suitable for you, then please advise our office before the date noted above for delivery by registered mail. If you prefer to receive your passports by courier, please send a prepaid courier envelope that is large enough to hold your passports. Please note that our office will not cover the costs associated with delivery of passports by courier. If our office does not receive a response from you by Monday, May 7, 2012, we will proceed with delivery of your passports by registered mail.

Please note that your visas expire on June 20th, 2012, so you must land in Canada before the expiry date.

Yes, they are sending this to many these days.
Nothing to worry, sources say that though unreliable, Bangladesh Postal system gives special importance to registered mails. you better had sent the Courier postage/pre pay envelope of DHL/FedEx/UPS to them. they would have been far more secure.

Anyways, May 7
Today is May 18th. You must have received your passport by now from Singapore.
Please share your experience.

Yes, we received our passport on May 10th. We have sent an prepaid envelope with FedEx and after 2 days of receiving that envelope, Singapore sent out the passport. FedEX call for pickup with our file # given to them. We received our passport on May 10th. I requested Singapore to email me the tracking# once it get picked up. They have sent me an email with the tracking # advising me that it was sent within an hour after FedEx picked up.
Thanks for asking jnathan.

Hey Bloomfield,
When I spoke to FedEx they actually told me about the problems they usually encounter while dealing with BD customs. Just wanted to know how you convinced them and who you talked to. Did you have to provide any authorization or declaration for the courier so they can pick your passport on your behalf, did you have any problem in terms of BD custom. Please let me know. Thanks.

No, we did not write any authorization letter to FedEx. However I have advised Singapore office that we are sending a prepaid fedex envelope to get our passport back and I also provided the tracking #. After Singapore received the envelope (I cehcked on Fedex website the delivery status), I constantly bugged fedex office in dhaka to contact singapore to collect the passport. I also emailed singapore to release the passport to fedex. Singapore received the envelope on Tuesday and gave passport to fedex on Friday.

Hi bloomfield

How much does UPS charge for the same service?
if you write an authorization letter to collect your passport by FedEx/DHL then CHC Singapore releases the passport 2 days. you didnt do it, so they took 4 days to release it to FedEx. they received the pickup request on Tuesday and released your passport on Friday.

Please reply here as well.

Hello bloomfield,

Congrats to you.

From which branch of FedEx in Dhaka did you send the prepaid envelope? Because, I went to Dhanmondi branch of FedEx, but they could not give me any prepaid envelope. That is why I could not send a prepaid envelope to Singapore. But, I really want to send one because that will be faster and safer process of returning my passport I think.

Also, FedEx asked me to provide authorization letter from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bangladesh. But, in your case, they did not ask.

Please let me know from which branch/ person did you get your job done.

I really need to send a prepaid envelope to CHC, Singapore.

I have another important question. When you email to CHC, did they reply to your all emails?

To which email address did you email them? please let me know. What did you put in the subject line? and was that a general enquiry or a case specific enquiry? Is it possible to share the email body that you sent to CHC, Singapore?

Please let me know these information.

I would really be grateful to you if I could contact you in person. Is it possible? If it is possible please let me know.

Can you please share the emails that you wrote to CHC, Singapore? Because, I heard they are very picky. They don't see all the emails and don't reply to most of the emails. Even, I have emailed them once, they never replied me back.

SO, it would really be very much helpful if you could send me the email (body with subject line ) that you sent to CHC, Singapore for advising them to send your passport through FedEx and the email where you requested them to give you the tracking number while sending back your passport.

And, also the CHC email address you used for this purpose.

I would be grateful to you if you could do this for my favour.

Best Regards.

I always use the email address singapore-im-enquiry @ international.gc.ca and got reply back within 24h.
Make sure your email address is recognized to them (use the same address that you fill up in your app form). Because they'll not disclose any information to unknown / unverified email address.
if the answer is available in their FAQ or Application Guide, then most probably they'll not reply you but if not then i assume you gonna get a reply every time.
Just mention your UCI and File No. in the letter.
it works for me so i hope will do for you as well.

Did the CIC call FedEx to pick up your passport when your passport was ready? When you emailed Singapore CIC to release your passport to FedEx, did they reply to you?

I have PMed you along with some queries. Please give me a reply when you get my PM.

Best Regards.
