Hello all,

I applied for Refugee file in Oct 2021. My claim got accepted in March 2023. I applied for PR in June 2023 and gave my biometrics in Nov 2023. I have few questions about my application.

1. Will my PR be approved if my claim is accepted? Is it a 100% thing or PR can be refused even if the claim is accepted?

2. I wish to marry my partner, he is on a tourist visa. If I marry him, can I apply for his PR with my file or should I wait until I get my PR card? Will marriage have any effect on my file?

3. Does anyone know how long it takes to get PR in this file? I applied for PR in March 2023.

All senior members please advise @scylla @canuck78

1. It's not 100% guaranteed but the chances of being refused are very very low. There would need to be a serious inadmissibility / security issue.
2. You can add your partner to your PR application.
3. I believe it's around 2 years.

Would add your partner does not get status by being added to your application so there is no guarantee they can remain visiting Canada and must apply to extend their stay based on the expiry of their visitor record.
