Refugee/asylum claimants 2024 timelines

I haven't heard of anyone getting hearing dates who filed late 2023 or since 2024. Probably closer to the ending of 2024, perhaps November, December and Jan 2025.

Just sharing my timeline:

1. April 19, 2024 - Submit BOC to IRCC
2. April 21, 2024 - AOC received
3. April 29, 2024 - Complete Medical
4. May 03, 2024 - Medical uploaded
5. May 07, 2024 - Medical passed
6. June 03, 2024 - Invitation to 1st Interview
7. June 18, 2024 - Biometrics and document seizure.
8. June 18, 2024 - Work permit and Brown paper issued. The officers did not asked me any questions.

Awaiting the invitation to a hearing now from the IRB.

I have an update
i got PP status without hearing.
also i have got NOD letter. actually lawyer forwarded me the NOD letter.
it not even a year i landed here. i claimed at the POE.

May I ask you when did you get file review process letter and when did you submit your evidence? Thanks!

i claimed at the Pearson Airport as i landed on 11 Aug 2024.
In April i was asked to submit the evidence to support my BOC. and I submitted at the end of the month.
And last Friday, 25 April. the tribunal granted me PP status without Hearing and on Monday I got NOD.
Now I'm going to submit PR application this month.

I hope you all get the decision soon.

Has nothing to do with the province. The application was identified for expedited processing and was then identified for not needing a hearing because there was such a high chance of success. This is a way IRB is trying to save money both and attempt to tackle the backlog. Some with expedited processing still need short hearings and some originally identified for expedited processing still end up requiring a full hearing. Approval without a hearing is still fairly rare and processing times are much longer than they used to be even for expedited processing.

There likely are but the majority will still be waiting. Not uncommon to take over 2 years to get a hearing these days.

Unlikely, even with file review process it will often take1 year.

yes, but was wondering if some even got a letter for submitting more evidence? since people from August has received theirs by this time from when they submitted their claims, not a file review processing but from a war torn country, although not official but people are talking about fast processing for these. praying for that!

You mean August 2024, this means it will take 1 year as I mentioned. Regarding claimants from war torn countries, these should be prioritized for file review and accepted without hearing. IRB should not waste resources on applicants deemed to have high chance of approval, and ideally use these resources to manage huge backlog of applicants from other more stable countries.

They are but there is still a huge backlog for these cases as well. A few years ago many of these cases were being approved in around 6 months.

Received request for supported documents by June 2025
Receiving notification letter that the case will need hearing and it will be schedule later by end of June 2025

No, on last June I received that my case need hearing and it will be schedule
I'm still waiting the hearing schedule
