Dear members,

I believe all of us are already aware the news about the strong border acts. How do you guys think for this? Those cases that have already been transferred to IRB will be returned too? Write your input please.

Answer to your questions is in my previous posts. In short, it will not affect cases referred to IRB. It may or may not affect new claimaints who file asylum recently as it is still proposed bill (not law) and I heard lawyer saying it will likely be enacted at end of June. However, I would expect that refugee claims from stable countries will undergo much more scrutiny and will not be prioritized for faster processing.

No suggestion has been made that this will impact cases already filed. In my opinion there may be changes to process current applications faster to try to clear out cases with no grounds but all files will be assessed.
