Can I just have a manager/hr just write a letter with duties only and not have my salary or hrs information as I have my contracts with this information on company letterhead already? I can include this as an attachment to my job description or would it be better to still have this information all in the one letter? Thanks

better to have in one letter, but it's OK to have it in two, but remember, both letters must cover the full period of experience that you are claiming (e.g. dated after you have completed your 1 year...)

Thanks! I have the contracts which stated a year then it got extended so I have that too. I can also include my payslips too to support it's been over a year so I'm assuming this would be sufficient as well as my T4.

but ... why? Why wouldn't you provide a complete letter of employment, if your manager is willling to write a letter?

i haven't approached my manager yet. i'm scared to even ask for a letter. i don't know how to go about it... plus because i'm on a contract i'm worried they may not extend it if they knew that i am not permanent here yet...

Did you have to show them a work permit before starting to work? They should already know you are on temporary status?

My hr obviously knows I'm on work visa as I had to provide proof I can work here upon hire. But now there is also a permanent position in my role which I applied for and don't want to jeopardize my chances by talking about immigration. My manager probably isn't aware I'm on a work permit here as I was only on a 1 year contract initially. I dunno what to do. I could be worried about nothing though right?

I see your dilemma here. I guess you can tell the manager you're applying for PR for the permanent position but he/she may second guess your chance of getting it...
