Did my landing in Coutts on August 21st. Weather was rainy and windy the whole day. Went to the US border and the officer asked us where we are heading to and reason and I said that I just want to flagpole for my landing for Canadian permanent residency and he asked us to park at the left side and go inside the building. We waited for about 10 minutes and he gave us our passport and gave me a "refused entry to U.S." paper and escorted us to the Canadian side. He didn't tell me anything.
On the Canadian side, the officer asked where we are heading and reason. I told him I just went to do my flagpole on the U.S. side and asked if we have any firearms/ammunition, alcohol, CAN $10,000 or more in cash and any prohibited items..we said NO. And he said if we just did our U-turn or actually entered US. I said just did our u-turn--this confused me a little bit. And then he told us to park our car and go to the building at the left side. Upon entering the building, there was no one but me & my husband entering and I didn't know which counter to go to, so I just assumed "immigration" counter so I went ahead and greeted the lady officer at the counter. She is straight forward, talking fast and no sign of any emotion, not smiling at all. I told her that I am doing my landing formality for my PR, and handed her my COPR and passport, and asked her if this is the correct counter to go to, she replied, "No, but I can assist you with that as well.". She asked who I was with and told her that he is my husband (he is a Canadian citizen). The officer asked me under what program I had my PR processed, I told her CEC through express entry and she then asked for my work permit. I handed her all my work permits including the old ones (as they are all stapled lol). She, then asked me: 1: if I have been accused, charged etc of any crime here and outside Canada which I said "NO" and 2: If I have children, and I said "YES" but they are not my dependents. She then clarified it back to me by saying, "So you don't have any dependent on this application and you are the principal applicant?" and I said yes. She finally asked us to sit. She then processed my papers, on the computer. It took about half an hour.
She then called out my name, and asked for my husband to be with me as well; she said it is an important process for both of us. And then she asked me the 2 golden questions again re: crimes committed; and if I have any dependents, then told me to write NO to both questions on my COPRs and have my initials on both answers. Then she asked me to read about the PR procedures like getting New SIN etc. She informed me that it will take about 90 days for my PR card to arrive. She also advised not to go out of the country without my PR card, while stapling a copy of my COPR on the stamped page on my passport. And then she said, "that's it. You are out of here". I said thank you. She didn't even reply back. She is just probably not happy assisting me or maybe the weather that day is making her feel blue, lol. BUT anyway, all is well, and she didn't really give me a hard time, just straightforward and phlegmatic approach haha. I am just waiting for my PR card and will do my vacation in December! woot!
