Reasons for Rejection

My heart skipped a beat reading this!!! Have there been rejections based on the WES ECA Number?
My ECA report was done last year and it does not contain IMM, just ends with 2 letters.
Moreover, it is valid for 5 years and was done specifically for Immigration purpose. Its been a month since we submitted our application. Hope all goes well. :-[

CIC sent me a Request Letter about a month after I submitted my PR application telling me I had to get in touch with ICAS, where I had my ECA done for a 2014 CEC application that was returned due to reached caps. CIC said that ICAS would not release my report directly to CIC because it wasn't in the right format. ICAS made me pay $140 and took 3 weeks (they initially told me it would be 20 weeks) to send a new IMM report, based on the documents I had had sent in 2014, and with the same result. I think WES is much better about it. I've seen two or three other reports on this forum of people who got letters like mine - some involving WES - and at least one that was rejected because of it. If you submitted your application recently, it's better to check with WES that yours is in the right format. If you submitted many months ago, whatever report you had was probably fine or you would have heard about it by now.

Hello Guys,

Assuming you were denied a PNP by a province.
At post ITA stage, does CIC check with every province to know whether one had earlier been rejected by a province??

in EE profile, I have checked box which asked if I have ever been refused visa or a permit instead of checking the one that asks:"Has .................. ......... you been refused refugee status, or an immigrant or permanent resident visa (including a Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ) or application to the Provincial nominee Program) or visitor or temporary resident visa, to Canada or any other country?"

Any suggestion how to correct he EE profile which has already been submitted?

Does case specific enquiry works to update EE profile.. Its a mistake as both the questions are confusing..

So sorry to hear that. Since I made the mistake as spouse of principal applicant. But in EE profile, I have checked box which asked if I have ever been refused visa or a permit instead of checking the one that asks:"Has .................. ......... you been refused refugee status, or an immigrant or permanent resident visa (including a Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ) or application to the Provincial nominee Program) or visitor or temporary resident visa, to Canada or any other country?"
After they requested schedule A for myself, I've also checked the wrong box, but gave an explanation that describes what kind of visa was I refused for (visitor visa for usa). As soon as I realized my mistake husband sent CSE explaining my honest mistake and attaching schedule A corrected.
Still no answer or updates on our application since then.
I search this forum everyday and checking on updates. After reading what happen to you, I'm devastated. 5 yrs is long time for us same as for you. No words of comfort. I'm sorry.

they said absolutely nothing. They had initially sent me a fairness letter which just asked for a sch A form which I ssent off to them

Hi guys
I also got refusal at pnp stage and in that application my spouse is also part of the application.
Now i put YES for first question in which cic asked for refugee, pr visa, pnp , quebec etc and also did same for spouse because he is also part of previously refused application.
So its right i think.
Someone told me that i have to put YES only for me , not for spouse

It is likely. People in the boarder control actually have information about your immigration status and rejection history. There is no penalty of reporting your previous application being rejected, unless you had a history of misrepresentation. In fact, lots of people on this forum who finally attained immigration status had their previous application being rejected by CIC in the past.

Was your visa rejection to Canada or to another country? If it was to Canada and you provided your old UCI number the visa officers will overlook what you have answered. I know two people who did the same exact mistake and got their PPRs. If the rejection is to a country other than Canada you will probably receive a letter during your background check and the letter would request further detail on the box that you have checked. Once you provide the detail honestly and correctly they will notice that you have misunderstood the question and they will let it pass.

My spouse's IELTS wil expire in the coming December. If, by then, we still haven't received DM, will the expiration lead to rejection or refusal of our application.??? His IELTS contributes points to our CRS. I found the following info in this link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/language-testing.asp

"Note: Your test results must be valid when you complete your Express Entry profile, and when you apply for permanent residence.
The profile is valid for 12 months. You should make sure that your language test results are valid for at least the same number of days.
If your test results expire soon, you should re-take the test and update your Express Entry profile with your new test results."

If necessary he will retake IELTS. Thank you in advance in any replies.

IELTS has to be necessarily valid till you get your eAPR only, it can expire during the process with no repercussions.

When they say profile, they mean pre ITA profile which is valid for 1 year.

I assume you have submitted your application. IMO, once you have submitted your e-APR, I don't think this applies because it has been specifically mentioned

There is no reference whatsoever to applications that have already been submitted. This is for people who have not yet submitted their e-APR, I guess. So, IMO, your husband does not need to re-take IELTS.

IELTS has to be necessarily valid till you get your eAPR only, it can expire during the process with no repercussions.

In our case, our IELTS expired three weeks after we got our ITA. We were not able to submit our PR application by then because it took some time to get our medical appointment, so we had to retake and submit the new IELTS results with our PR application. But if we had been able to turn in the PR application before the IELTS expired, we would have been fine.

It is unclear what the quote you supplied means by "application process" - is it just when you are applying for EE, or when your application is being evaluated? But their other quote - the one that says specifically it must be valid when you make your profile and when you turn in your PR application is very clear, and no one on this board has reported being rejected because they met that requirement, but their IELTS expired before getting PR.

IMO, I think your test results must be valid when submitting your e-APR (your application for Permanent Residence). I don;t think it matters AFTER you have submitted your e-APR. I think the same applies to ECA reports as well.
