RBC - Personal Deposit Account (opened outside Canada) - questions

  1. Hi guys,

    This week we've opened our Personal Deposit Account with RBC (Royal Bank of Canada). We haven't landed yet, but wanted to start transferring our reserves before then.

    Has anyone had any experience with transferring funds from outside Canada to this type of account?

    As far as I can tell, there isn't any way to confirm that the money we'll be transferring is being successfully deposited into it.

    The online banking tool can't be activated until we land. I haven't found any way to access the RBC site and confirm that the account has in fact been opened.

    The only thing we'll have until we land is confirmation from the bank representative, via e-mail. I'm a bit anxious about this.

    Any thoughts? Has anybody successfully used this type of account before?

  2. Hi! I had the same type of account and regularly transferred money into it. I was told you can email your point of contact person (or call the RBC branch) and they can confirm the money was successfully deposited.
