471!!! I agree that's still quite high considering in the last 15 days we have had 8400 people receive ITA's. Considering the pandemic, it's still a mystery how people are flocking into the pool.
Not really a mystery. The same way lots of people have been entering the pool in the last few months despite the pandemic. CELPIP and IELTS have been running (with social distancing measures) all summer. People have been accumulating required work exp. There are other ways to increase scores too. It is not like folks have been just sat doing nothing this whole time. Lots of people become eligible to join the pool every day.

Hi guys, I need clarification on a dilemma, I am at 470 and my profile expires on 14th of October which could be the day of the next draw. Also, my birthday is on the 15th, that's the next day and I'd lose 5 points. What do you advise in this situation?
Do not move! Just seat and wait for next draw. If you withdraw your application and make new one you will 100 percent miss the next draw for tie breaking role, meanwhile by upcoming birthday your score will drop to 465 , this score may not be selected
in a year or even forever! Who knows!

This is a tight one. There is a good chance you get ita that . Due to the lose of age ..your best shot is to leave the profile as is and hope to be picked in the next..

Yours profile should be active at the time of the draw since we can't tell the exact time of the day it expires.

Literally just got my CELPIP results yesterday and submitted my PR on the same day, I'm at exactly 471. Any chance of getting in or will I most likely get cut due to tie-breaking rule?

No chance due to the tie breaker rule. You'll need to wait for the next draw unfortunately.

Look at the good side - they are sending out 4200 ITAs in each draw instead of the usual 3900 at the beginning of the year! Score will surely gradually decrease.. fingers crossed.

In the ITA letter, they state:

NOTE: If you had a birthday since we sent you this invitation, and the change to your age decreases your points total, this will not cause us to refuse your application for permanent residence.
