The argument that ITA doesn't imply people will hop on a plane immediately is devoid of logic.

Once invitation is issued, CIC is bound to complete the process in a set time frame and issue PR which implies they have to let ppl into the country within 8-10 months max.

No one knows what the situation will be at that point of time, things may even have gotten worse and CIC for sure don't want bad press that they're allowing in ppl from high risk countries, esp after canadians sacrificed so much to finally contain the virus within the country.

Canada get billions in revenue from American tourists visiting in summer but the border is currently closed. They don't want direct revenue by risking health of canadians so why will they call in ppl from outside countries just to fill in some numbers?
My opinion - FSW will not start till COVID19 is under control throughout or a vaccine is made

Are you Federal Skilled Worker or Canadian Experience Class?

Since March the draws are only happening for CEC & PNP.
Oh I see , my application was a simple Express entry. I had gotten my hopes up before :( thanks for the clarification.

OINP just invited FSW candidates for provincial nomination, what do you think about that?

As you're not aware, Canada even now is allowing in agricultural workers (mainly from Mexico which is currently very hard hit) as they know that agri output will be impacted because of labor shortage. OINP invited 5-600 ppl with prioritized skill set.
This is completely different from FSW which entails bringing in thousands per month in general workforce which may not be 'critical' as per their assessment
Do u see the difference now or it is still hard?

Vaccine to COVID 19 is out of the picture. WHO officials even said there might not be a vaccine and most likely we will have to live with virus like HIV. do you reckon that FSW draw wont happen for next couple of years? That would be not so smart

This is just my opinion, Canada hits record high unemployment, they also added almost 279,000 new jobs in the market as well. But in comparison to the 3 million people unemployed, immigration seems to be at a crucial stage. They won't invite people from outside, since they do not want to risk of losing Canadian's trust.

Bruh OINP already invited FSW people and they will keep doing that as long as there is demand and no supply but not in huge numbers, losing canadian's trust is not a valid reason as most of Canadian population is made of immigrants

If the situation is so dire, why are draws happening at all? Isn't it better to let temporary residents to leave the country once their permit expires? Won't this benefit Canadians who are out of work or lost their jobs due to the pandemic?

Lol, most of the jobs are full filled by the temporary foreign workers that are in the country at the moment. That is the reason for the CEC draws, they do not want the TFW to leave because if they leave the economy won't survive. But this is all speculation, we can argue everyday without reaching any conclusion haha. So lets wait for the draw next week. Cheers !

Yes, exactly this argument can go on and on and on with no conclusion.
We'll just wait and watch what happens next Wednesday.

Totally agree, especially if the unemployment numbers don't drop down then they surely will implement something similar. There's no point inviting ppl in when the local populace themselves don't have jobs (unless it's skilled labor with huge shortfall)
