Hello guys,

I applied for AINP in December 17, 2014 and got file number on January 13, 2015. After waiting 14 months, unfortunately I got laid off from my work yesterday. Now I’m in big trouble not sure what to do and my work permits will be expired on October 28, 2016. Please suggest me what would I do? Should I let AINP know that I lost my job or I should get another job and update my profile with new employer?

Your kind advised would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Try to find the same job and position and update this info. Buy still the ainp will try to contact first the old employer, since they gave you the ainp offer letter. You just try and see your luck. But remember as soon as you update that you were laid off to ainp, there is most chance of closing your file.
Second option would be, if you are a skilled worker, you can just get letter of 1 year experience from your old employer and try to find a lmia and apply for express entry.
There should be some other options too...keeping looking bud, don't lose hope.
All the best!!!

Just a wild guess: AINP will never ever tell you the right schedule or rules as, it is still dealing with the horrifying backlog that they have created over the last couple of years (2013). They will not announce the 2016 quota until they will finish the backlog but they will accept the current applications.
One fine day they will release new rules saying "Labour Market Demand positions/jobs blah blah blah "
that day automatically the occupations not in demand will get rejected and the number will be out. This is just a very personal opinion ! one more thing to consider anything can happen as a result of " ECONOMY"

the AINP quota for 2016 is unknown yet. March 9 is a deadline for Immigration Canada to announce the immigration target for 2016 so probably they will inform provinces about the PNP quota

Talked with my lawyer and she said what she know is they still have 5500 quota this year but however AB will ask more allocation for the foreign nationals who has created the EE profiles....

Ok, now that the lawyer and stuff is mentioned I would like to give a very important advice to everyone on this thread or anyone who is reading this post. Myself to our overcarefulness applied to AINP through an immigration lawyer. And recently I came to know that applicants who apply via representatives will have 10 times more scrutinizing than the applicants who have applied individually by themselves.

Do you know what date in June did your friend apply?

A friend of mine applied in June 2014 noc 6215 he got a call last friday, 1st call to employer at 3.30pm spoke 15ish minutes: what is the position, when did he start, is he currently employed ? what are the duties ?
at 4.30 pm friend got a call same day and same standard questions.
One more important thing: may be this is case specific. As me and my friend both applied from same company different nocs different years, the officer also asked my friend & employer for my position this is the new twist. But I did not get any call from AINP. I think they are looking in to the files according to the submission date. I applied in 2015 & my friend applied in 2014.

Did you apply in July 2013 or 2014?

If it is July 2013, better confirm that your file is still under processing by calling AINP.

Give them your file# and they will tell you the status.

yeah, just try to find the same noc code job and then update the employer information. This might not work, but its all by luck.
sometimes to makes things worst, the employer will update this laid off information to AINP, so request your employer not to inform AINP or else all the struggle would be wasted. In the mean time you consult a immigration lawyer and ask his advise.
Best thing would be LMIA. if you are skilled worker. and apply for express entry.

all the best

Bro,

If your employer is desi, explain him /her your situation I think it should be fine, pay him the amount that your payslip has and try to keep your payroll running. If your employer is not co-operative then the only option will be finding a new job or LMIA. I can understand how frustrating this whole process will be . I hope you get through all this soon All the Best !

Hey Guys are people even getting nominations these days? It seems like they have stopped giving EDS applicants any nomination
