Hello Everyone,

I came to canda for my school in 2011 and 2012 i got my work permit and i was on my work permit till june 4th 2016. But i travel alot like went back home for a month once and 10 days the other time. And for two weeks to japan. I also went for a week's trip to USA. and I have several short trips to US.

1) Can i apply for my citizenship now or do i have to calculate all the days that i was away ?

2) If i had to calculate all the days do i also count the short weekend trips as well?

Use the physical presence calculator

https://eservices.cic.gc.ca/rescalc/resCalcStartNew.do

The day you leave Canada and the day you return count as days in Canada, the calculator will take that into account.

If you apply now then of course 2011/2012 are not relevant only from June 2013 until now and assuming June 4th 2016 was when you became a PR assume you know days before that are credited at one half day for every day in the country to maximum 1 year credit.

All absences should be accounted for.

You may want to do your homework first...
You'll find out that you don't calculate anything but that IRCC's tool does the calculation for you and will let you know when you'll be eligible.
