If you came to Canada through Sponsorship, that is, you got your PR card because your ex-wife sponsored you, then you may not sponsor your new wife (or any other family member) for a 5 year period since you came here.

If you were not sponsored by anyone in Canada but came to Canada thru other method like Skilled Category Immigration, then you can sponsor your new wife.

To answer your question, the forms are the same for a PR or citizen.

To add my own opinion, 3 months will raise red flags with CIC. You should date longer before getting married. That is just my opinion.... and I'm not trying to offend you, only offer some advice.

As others have said, it's important to know when you landed / became a PR. You cannot sponsor your new wife until five years after this date.

You're welcome to apply after the five years. However, you can expect extra scrutiny for this application. Why? Because you were sponsored and applied to sponsor as soon as the limit was up. No one can tell you what will happen here.

Since you must wait before sponsoring her, maybe you should date a while longer?

Hi life-of-love,

An extra thought about what's been said about wanting to date a bit longer - of course it's up to you how long you date before you get married, and I understand that in some cultures, a quick marriage is pretty standard. However, quick marriages throw up flags to CIC - being more Western-minded, they tend to go with their version of a "traditional" relationship, which is a period of dating, sometimes a period of co-habitation, and then marriage after that.

Since, as amikety has said, your application will be looked at with more scrutiny because you yourself were sponsored, waiting a bit longer to marry your girlfriend will probably earn you some extra points instead of a quick marriage.

Hope that helps, and good luck!
