Question regarding multiple PR stream file

My friend who is from Hong Kong applied her PR in NOV 2024 under Hong Kong PR stream and there has been no update till now,

She is about to get married in Sept 2026.

Below are the questions:

1. Can she apply for spousal PR after getting married?
2. Does she have to take back her PR file under Hong Kong stream or can she continue to have that file as well ?
3. If she can continue to have that file, does she have to update her marital status in that file?
4. What other things she needs to keep in mind?

The processing time for the various H&C programs are incredibly long (can be decades depending on when they applied and what H&C program). If she qualifies for spousal sponsorship she should definitely apply processing will be significantly faster. She will be asked as a certain point to withdraw which ever application will take the longest to process. She does need to update her H&C file whenever there is a change to her profile.

At some point during processing IRCC will request she withdraw one of the PR applications. You must update any changes to your PR application profile whether it be change of address, marital status, etc. Yes she should only update her profile after she gets married.
