SORRY :-\ I don't if this question is relevant to this site or to the normal topics on this site....

So my husband and I have been looking at travel destination for a vacation and recently we were invited to a trip to Cuba. ;D Sounds great but then I remembered the problems between the US and Cuba. To my understanding, american citizens still aren't allowed in Cuba as tourist, and if they are allowed in the near future it will be in tour groups with agendas and activities... Is this correct?

So being a PR of Canada...doesn't change that right? Even if I was a double citizen of Canada and the US I would still not be allowed? And if I went anyways was caught I would have to pay hefty fines from the US?

I have been in Canada for almost 6 MONTHS!! :p

According to the Department of Foreign Affairs, Canada, there is no nationwide advisory in effect for Cuba. Actually the site indicates they even have an embassy in Havana.

From a US perspective, a lot has gone on between the 2 countries since this year begun. It is therefore difficult to determine what is and what is not. I advise you contact the US State Department for guidance.

someone recently mentioned on the forum that us citizens can travel to cuba from canada no problem. it's traveling FROM the us that is the issue, not that we are us citizens. it also doesn't have anything to do with being pr. as long as we travel to/from canada, then there's no issue - supposedly. hopefully someone who's done it will come around and share their experience.
