Filling out my daughters citizenship certificate application and I'm filling out the section about her father. He is a Canadian citizen and it is asking for his "Canadian certificate no:" My question is...what is this? His social insurance number? A number from his birth certificate?

You will find it on your husband's Canadian Certificate, its unique number just like any passport number or PR number.

Further, you might consider attaching a copy of your husband's Canadian Certificate with your daughters applications.

He doesn't have a "Canadian Certificate"....at least not like what we are applying for. He was born in Canada and has his birth certificate. Will the registration number on his birth certificate suffice for this?

As you might agree, personal opinions of readers may or may not necessarily be in line with the CIC official rule / acceptable to CIC.

Consider meeting manager at your local CIC offices or write to CIC Offices asking clarification (Call Center Agents, may not be helpful).
